1014 CE - Annals of Loch Cè

by Kathleen NíBhriain

The Annals of Loch Cè were compiled by the scribes of Duigenan family, under the patronage of Brian Óg MacDermot. The compilation, at first simply loose papers, was later collected and called the Annals of Boyle, later to become known as the Annals of Loch Cè and the Annals of Connacht. The Annals were again transcribed and translated in 1588, and stayed with Clann MacDermot until 1652. The Annals changed hands several times, finally finding a home in 1766, in Dublin's Trinity College.
